This position has a shift of Open & Close, also computer experience required. POSITION TITLE: TUNNEL – LINE OPERATOR GENERAL INFORMATION: Location: Calgary, AB Department: Washfloor Supervisor: Production Supervisor/Manager GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Monitors washing of soil linens utilizing a computer controlled automated system process. Organize loads and keep area organized. Ensuring Company and Hotel products meet company and customer guidelines, quality standards/requirements. Responsible for achieving and maintaining company set production goals and standards. Complete any special requests. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Main Responsibility · Monitor tunnel washer load sequence, soil rail system, soil sort loads, dryer line/shuttle system and dryer clean rail systems. · Monitors any system faults and corrects faults to ensure production goals are achieved. · Ensures standard tunnel load sequences are followed. · Follows processing sequence of hotel accounts to maintain scheduled delivery times. · Ensure equipment is working properly and report to maintenance department any required repairs. · Ensure soil loads are properly weighed and correct wash formulas are entered into tunnel computers. · Corrects over weight loads from sorting belt following safe work procedures. · Manually overrides loads on lower sort conveyor belt for small volume hotel accounts and special requests following safe work procedures. · Corrects system faults on MLA’s, dryers, shuttle, press, tunnels and sorting belt. · Assist soil dumpers in unloading/loading trailers. · Assist in unloading deliveries. · Monitors and documents production numbers for tunnel washers hourly. · Perform any other assigned tasks requested by Supervisor/ Managers. 2. Secondary Responsibility · Wears proper P.P.E. for work area (closed toe tie down shoes required – steel toe shoes/boots recommended, earplugs recommended and supplied,). · Performs area safety check and area organization (trip hazards or unsafe or faulty equipment). · Reports any injury. · Reports unsafe work practices (i.e. dangerous work habits) · Right to know · Right to refuse unsafe work. Perform emergency shut down of machinery. · Responsible for performing work in a safe manner by following safety rules, regulations and emergency evacuation procedure. · Adherence and awareness of Blood Bourne Pathogens Policy, Sharps Policy and PPE Policy. · Adhering to Company Policies and Procedures and Industry Standards. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: This position reports to the Supervisor/Production Coordinator/Manager JOB SPECIFICATIONS: Education: Minimum Grade 10 Experience: 0 – 6 months Knowledge, Skills and Ability: · Interpersonal skills, team player · Fluent English verbal and written communication skills. · Knowledge of linen products is required. · On site training offered WORKING CONDITIONS: · This position is located in a production plant environment and the work requires continual physical effort all day such as bending, standing, lifting, grasping, stretching, pushing and pulling up to and including 850 lbs. · Constant exposure to low-level noise from machines in the plant. · Constant exposure to lint/dust particles in the air. · Constant exposure to humidity and heat.
