The headquarters for Teck Resources Ltd. is located in Vancouver, Canada. DUCK POND MINING OPERATIONS, is now a closed copper/ zinc mine owned by Teck Resources Ltd. and is located approximately 30 km south of the town of Millertown in central NL. The mine ceased operations in mid-2015 and the site is presently in the process of rehabilitation, with water treatments operations anticipated to continue for another 10 years. We are interested in receiving resumes for a site-based Site Technician. This will be a full-time position at 40 hours per week. Reporting to the Site Manager and collaborating with the Environmental Technician, the Site Technician will: provide day-to-day general maintenance and upkeep for mobile equipment, fixed equipment, water treatment plant and other site assets as required; coordinate contractors for major repairs on equipment, pump maintenance, and other preventative maintenance requirements; ensure that standard operating procedures are being implemented effectively and safely, and updated as required; support site health, safety, and environment requirements. Responsibilities: Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures Acquire a complete understanding of the existing equipment in service at the Duck Pond Site Plan, organize, and/or perform regular required maintenance and minor repairs of site equipment Complete and maintain records of maintenance work Oversee the work of various contractors performing maintenance activities Acquire an understanding of the electrical distribution system components Assist with the operation of the site water treatment and distribution systems Assist with water monitoring and collection of water samples as per provincial, federal and Teck requirements Operate specific heavy equipment for small moves of pumps, snow clearing or other assigned duties (Training can be provided where required). Conduct daily site patrols and report on findings as required Manage and provide guidance and technical support to contractors within assigned discipline and area; and advise, monitor, and supervise work in all phases within assigned area and discipline Assist in the management of the site health and safety program, including regular inspections Rigorously uphold a safe working environment and comply with all environmental, health, and safety policies and actively attend safety meetings Proactively work with contractors to ensure project safety and quality objectives are being achieved Assist with the planning and scheduling of projects Submit daily progress reports and any other relevant information as required by management Other related duties as required Qualifications Experience in mechanical equipment - Mechanical Trades Certification would be beneficial Valid Driver’s License (class 8 beneficial) Ability to manage multiple contractors Able to work independently with minimal supervision Experience in heavy equipment operation Strong level of computer proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Word and Excel Ability to meet deadlines or other productivity standards Reasonable understanding of working within departmental schedules and budgets Solid knowledge and appreciation for Health, Safety, and Environmental policy and procedures, to ensure work is conducted accordingly in their area of responsibility Good organizational and planning skills Ability to stand or sit in the same location with some opportunity to move about; occasionally required to stoop or lift light material or equipment Dedicated and hard worker #LI-TM1 About Teck At Teck, we value diversity.
