The Alma Mater Society (AMS) is the University of British Columbia’s (UBC) student society, and works to improve the academic, social and personal lives of the 56,000 UBC students at its Vancouver campus. The AMS also runs nine food and beverage outlets, a catering and conference operation, and the AMS Student Nest, providing on-campus employment opportunities and generating revenue that goes directly back into supporting the students at UBC. Position title: Sr. Supervisor Department: Food & Beverage Reports to: Sous Chef – The Flavour Lab Supervises: CSR Employee Status: Full time, Permanent Hours per Week: 37.5 Compensation: $19.00 per hour Position Purpose: As Sr. Supervisor of The Flavour Lab, you’ll be responsible for the FOH operations of the outlet, ensuring sales goals and cost targets are met. You will work in close cooperation with the Sous Chef of the outlet, contributing to the success of the space. Duties and Responsibilities: Ensure the successful and safe operation of the Flavour Lab, providing an excellent guest experience and quality management Analyze and plan sales levels and profitability Schedule FOH staff Assist in all HR needs within the department, including recruitment and progressive discipline Prepare reports at the end of the shift/week, including staff control, food control and sales Assist in planning and coordination of menu Maintaining and utilizing all computer hard- & software according to AMS guidelines Achieve sales goals through ongoing promotions, events, sales trainings, inventory management and menu engineering Meet cost targets through analyzing cost centers and adjusting inventory levels, labor and expenses Other duties as required Qualifications and Experience: Must possess a minimum of three (3) years’ restaurant, QSR or Pub management experience Equivalent combination of education and progressive, relevant and direct experience will be considered in lieu of full experience requirement Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills to deal effectively with all business contacts Working knowledge of Point of Sale (Squirrel), Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook is required Inventory management software knowledge (ideally Optimum Control) is an asset Experience working with youth or in a collegiate environment is an asset Food Safe Level 1 or higher required Ability to lift 25kg (55lbs) Monday to Friday 9-5 availability required.
