An exciting opportunity exists for you to be part of the team that works with the Employee Services Department and its stakeholders to optimize HR business processes and deliver HR technology solutions that effectively and efficiently provide service and support to the City of Edmonton’s workforce. Reporting to the Human Capital Management (HCM) Sustainment Lead, the HCM Functional Analyst role involves end-to-end solution delivery and maintenance of the City’s ERP applications, processes and services. The Functional Analyst provides subject matter expertise with in-depth knowledge and significant experience in the business processes supported by, and the configuration of the functionalities delivered through, the City of Edmonton’s Enterprise Commons solution, with a focus on HCM processes and systems. Specifically, this position is responsible for proactively identifying business needs/requirements and designing business processes, analysis, planning, configuration, testing, documentation, troubleshooting and end user support as it relates to the HCM parts of the Enterprise Commons platform. With a focus on the City of Edmonton’s Cultural Commitments to Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated and Excellent, you will be leading and contributing as follows: Planning and Solution Delivery Develop functional specifications for reports, forms, interfaces, modifications and data conversions Oversee the configuration, testing, quality assurance and implementation of new releases, modules and functionality Work with other stakeholders to design, develop, and test system integrations Develop and maintain configuration documentation Create integrated solutions to solve complex requirements; specializing in the delivery of cost effective and current technology solutions Effectively engage internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements, research and develop proposed solutions Provide detailed and specific advice and training regarding the application(s) to inform the organization's planning and operations Contribute to, or lead parts of planning activities by providing knowledge of business trends, technology trends, vendor roadmaps/planned activities and identifying /helping to identify the impacts of change with respect to the business and technology within their area of specialty Investigate operational requirements, problems, and opportunities. Completes and documents gap and/or root cause analyses Recommend solutions and action plans which include effective business solutions through improvements in automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes or practices Plan, prepare and execute functional and system testing and manage issue resolution; develop test cases as required. Facilitate user acceptance testing with business areas and validate test results Perform additional duties as required Post Implementation Sustainment Respond in a timely manner to incidents, service requests, and service interruptions with HR systems by utilizing in-depth understanding of the system functionality, process flows, dependencies, and known problems Assist business teams with continuous improvement initiatives around their business processes by identifying, evaluating and recommending business process options and improvements Investigate operational requirements, problems, and opportunities. Completes and documents gap and/or root cause analyses Work with other stakeholders to design, develop, and test system integrations Oversee the configuration, testing, quality assurance and implementation of new releases, modules and functionality Recommend solutions and action plans which include effective business solutions through improvements in automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes or practices Continually update and learn new HR technology best practices and functionality via research, events, and networking with industry subject matter experts Understand the core HR technology environments within the Employee Services Department and work with internal IT personnel and external vendors to implement changes related to application maintenance, configuration modification, system upgrades and enhancements as required Work with internal stakeholders, leaders, and service provider to review system software roadmaps and updates to identify and recommend the specific releases, features/functionalities available that merit action based on product owner direction and/or business needs Perform additional duties as required Qualifications: Degree in Business Administration, Computer Systems, Human Resources, Finance, or an acceptable related field and 4 years related experience which includes 1 year of experience in an SAP environment Formal certification in the area of specialization is desirable. A combination of education, training and experience may be considered Familiarity or experience with BMC Remedy, SAP Solution Manager, SAP S/4 Hana, SAP CRM, SuccessFactors applications, Sodales, Concur, SAP Ariba or another cloud ERP system are considered an asset Analytical, problem solving, organizational and time management skills with the ability to plan, prioritize and manage conflicting priorities with minimal direction Interpersonal skills with outstanding customer service skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholder groups Demonstrated experience in implementing large change initiatives and knowledge of change management and communication practices is considered an asset Demonstrated ability to achieve results in the context of a respectful, inclusive and service-minded style Demonstrate alignment with the Cultural Commitments of Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated and Excellent, fostering an environment for others to do the same.
