Electrical Field Inspector Utility Solutions Corporation is currently seeking an Electrical Field Inspector with strong verbal communication skills, customer service skills and conflict resolution skills to work in our Toronto office. Inspection services are required to provide city of Toronto utility customers (and electricians) with location instructions for electrical service entrance equipment (e.g., clevis, spool, weather-heads, standpipes, revenue meter base, etc.) for overhead supplied residential and commercial properties in the City of Toronto. The Field Inspector will be responsible for performing site visits, interacting with clients and the public, and ensuring that work pertaining to electrical service connections conforms to Toronto Hydro’s standards. Familiarity with electrical utility standards and design practices is essential for this position. Responsibilities: Perform site visits to meet with customers to provide location instructions for electrical service entrance equipment (e.g., clevis, spool, weather-heads, standpipes, revenue meter base, etc.) for overhead supplied residential and commercial properties in the city of Toronto. Provide design standards and provide direction for the correct application of standards as they apply to upgrade, new and temporary electrical services for residential and commercial properties; Perform site visits to meet with customers to verify installation compliance for electrical service entrance equipment (e.g., clevis, spool, weather-heads, standpipes, revenue meter base, etc.) for overhead supplied residential and commercial properties in the city of Toronto. Perform site visits to validate compliance with Toronto Hydro’s standards as they apply to upgrade, new and temporary electrical services for residential and commercial properties; Prepare location instruction sketches and notes and provide to customer and/or electrician; Interface with other design disciplines and stakeholders, either internal or external; Prepare technical input for reports, specifications, proposals, project schedules and cost estimates; Assist intermediate and senior staff with responding to client requirements; Report regularly to the Project Manager on project status; Prepare weekly and monthly status reports on inspection site visits; Perform and assist with additional duties and tasks as assigned from time to time. Qualifications: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. This position will be client facing and will also provide services to the general public; 2 to 5 years of experience in the electrical distribution utility industry and/or residential and commercial electrical (electrician) installation work; Strong active listening skills; Strong interpersonal communication skills; Conflict resolution skills; Ability to create effective working relationships with fellow employees, clients' representatives, government agencies and the public; A post-secondary degree or diploma in Electrical Technology (focused on Power Distribution Systems is preferred). We will consider a combination of education and experience in performing similar work equivalent to our requirements; High level of familiarity with electrical revenue metering equipment, utility secondary bus connections, service cable types and sizes and service entrance equipment (e.g., meter base, stand-pipe, weather-head, etc.); Familiarity with Ontario’s Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) requirements; Familiarity with low and medium voltage distribution equipment (panels, switchgear, etc.); Working knowledge of the OESC, CSA and IEEE standards, O.Reg. 22/04, typical equipment dimension, connection details etc.; Knowledge of principles and practices in the electrical construction industry, especially with new construction and renovations of residential and commercial properties; Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Outlook and Excel primarily) Equipment commissioning and grounding grid testing experience would be an asset; Valid Ontario driver’s license; Excellent problem solving and multitasking skills; Client focused and attention to detail, eager to learn, self-motivated; Capability to work independently and in a team; Flexibility to respond to short notice assignments and respond to project based Client demands.
