Job description
DUTIES The Cook will be responsible for setup, preparation and packaging of food items for the Culinary Exchange. Food items will consist of: soups, vegetables, meats and starches. The Cook is also responsible for the storage, packaging and pricing of food items from the student food labs. The successful candidate will perform taste and temperature tests, ensure all supplies are ordered, stored and rotated. The Cook is responsible for washing dishes and pot washing, cleaning of food service equipment and floors. The Cook will work safely, following all safety procedures in a food operation. PGI is home to the School of Hospitality and Culinary Arts and RRC residence; all support personnel are required to interact positively with the student population. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS * Experience cooking in the food service industry Valid Food Handlers certificate Excellent interpersonal skills and verbal communication skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Experience providing excellent customer service Experience in the safe handling and storage of food and perishable goods Experience in the safe utilization of commercial food service equipment Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends This position may be required to work overtime This position may be required to work throughout the academic year including the summer months Must be physically capable of regularly lifting up to 50lbs Job Type: Part-timePart-time hours: 20 per week Salary: $16.84-$20.50 per hour Benefits: Company events Company pension Dental care Extended health care On-site gym Paid time off Vision care Wellness program Flexible Language Requirement: French not required Schedule: 4 hour shift COVID-19 considerations:Employees must self screen if not feeling well.
