Position Summary: Reporting to the Corporate Accountant – Budget & Payroll (B&P), the incumbent is responsible for assisting the Corporate Accountant (B&P) on budgeting and forecasting, Budget consolidation, payroll costing on union proposal, payroll audit, analysis and Government reporting. Job responsibilities: Prepare Consolidated Budget on Sage 300 AccPac and ensure accuracy. Prepare the Budget templates for business units. Assist the Corporate accountant on payroll budget and costing. Prepare payroll costing of union proposals during arbitration and negotiation. Prepare payroll budget variance analysis to management. Coordinate with the Payroll Specialist to prepare payroll and benefits journal entries. Assure timely and accurately filing of payroll-related returns including but not limited to T4 summaries, EHT, WSIB, HOOPP; Business Payroll Survey, Salary & Benefit Disclosure under Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act. Assist the Corporate accountant in reviewing and streamlining the budget and payroll process and prepare documentation. Prepare Government reporting, including but not limited to Staffing reports, OHRS Trial Balance data, benchmarking reports in compliance with MOH requirements. Prepare payroll reconciliation. Assist the Corporate Accountant on payroll audits to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the payroll and benefit records. Provide backup payroll support to run reports on items including but not limited to hours and earnings reports, benefits, seniority, sick, vacation and union accrual. Any other duties might be assigned from time to time. Qualifications: Post-secondary education in a business-related discipline. PCP designation is an asset. 3-5 years of accounting analysis and reporting experience. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel, creating pivot tables, v-lookups and linked worksheets. Excellent working knowledge of ADP payroll system, Query is highly preferred. Analytical thinking and excellent trouble-shooting skills – ability to use a systematic approach to developing solutions and processes. Strong communication skills in English & Chinese, verbal and written. High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail. Self-motivated team player with a strong work ethic to deal with accounting & payroll-related issues with a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
